Club News – Chopbacks enter League Tournament April 2021

After yet another Covid-19 Lockdown, Grassroots football is finally back again following 3 months away.

Due to the amount of time left in the season the East Sussex Football League have taken the difficult decision of declaring the 2020/21 season null and void which means for the second season running the Chopbacks have been top of their respective division at the time of both seasons being declared void.

In place of this the league have chosen to organise a 6 week tournament during April & early May of which the Chopbacks have accepted the invitiation to compete in.

South Coast Athletico have been drawn in Group A of the Premier & Division 1 cup group which sees them face some tough opposition.

The Chopbacks open their group campaign away against Premier Division side Battle Town before playing their first home game a week later against fellow Division 1 club Bexhill A.A.C.

Premier Division outfit Bexhill Town follow the next weekend away before a midweek away fixture against another Prem Division side in St Leonards Social follows.

Then the Chopbacks  find themselves at home against the only other Division 1 club in the group Sidley United II and then away the following weekend against another Premier Division side Robertsbridge.

The Chopbacks will finally finish their group campaign with a home tie against Wadhurst United from the Premier Division with memories of their narrow Premier Cup defeat fresh in their minds.

With some tough fixtures in the group the Chopbacks are very much looking forward to testing themselves against higher level opposition which will serve the playing squad well in preparation for the 2021/22 season.
