Upon a somber rainy Saturday afternoon, first and foremost our thoughts went out to all the service men and women who have faught and sacrificed for us to remain free and enjoy the privilege that we all take for granted.
Both teams observed a minutes silence today, it was a shame a group of on watchers didn’t have the respect and pride to observe it.
However, as we kicked off, it was clear both teams were there to battle. We had some good attacking play early on but Ninfield took the lead with their first chance coming from a well whipped in ball from Callum holt-burgess.
Poor defending by us but a well worked goal.
We responded well after applying some pressure with Connor Easton hitting the net from an assist by Lee Finnigan.
Both teams battled hard and South Coast earn a 2-1 lead by Ryan Fuller calmly slotting home from Eden Hart Cross.
Another excellent ball in by CHB for Ninfield gave bought them level before half time
At half time Neil Sutcliffe tore into the team as the lads were playing well below par. Two changes were made and the second half was much better from the off.
Ninfield had a couple of good chances but, thanks to ‘The Cat’, Ben Tate who pulled off a couple of outstanding saves, we were more dominant.
To their credit, Ninfield pressed on and lots of battles were had, their goalkeeper, player manager Jack harris, pulled out several fantastic saves to keep them in.
Ultimately the game was won by little Luke Darvill battling with Ninfield’s keeper to ultimately pass to Connor Easton who slotted home in the dying minutes.
Credit to Ninfield for a great battling game on such a poignant day.
Man of the match Luke Darvel and a special mention to our centre back pairing of big Dayle Mcgurk and saucy Wayne Marchy…….. Just cause it’s their round ?
Chopbacks 3, Ninfield 2
Peace ✌
